After reading The Dream Police, I expected more of the same here, though eagerly. The selected poetry of that volume was two and three decades old. Though many of the same themes are explored here, Cooper's eye for details and images has sharpened after twenty years of writing novels. His fascination with technology and the internet also manifests itself here, and any of those familiar with Cooper's blog will recognize the macabre interest in young male escorts that is explored here to great effect. Some of Cooper's best poetry, even his best writing, is to be found in this book. ( ) inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
A new collection of poetry from a writer who was one of the most 'dangerous' contemporary voices in America and whose poems are at 'the heart, the core, of his oeuvre', according to Wayne Koestenbaum. Riddled with genius-filled insights and a poignant tenderness, The Weaklings is an essential addition to Cooper's canon of poetry and prose. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
