This story is about two rabbits in the garden that is peaceful and the rabbits are happy. The older/wiser rabbit warns them not to eat the one specific fruit, and leaves the garden for a trip. The serpent tells them to eat that specific fruit, and the rabbits do since there was not enough food left for them to eat. So at the end the serpent is good. This is an interesting story that takes a story from the bible and changes the outcome and some of the circumstances of the original story. This book features "The old rabbit" who may represent God. He informs two small rabbits (Adam and Eve) not to eat the apples in the garden while he is away, or the fox will eat him (symbolizes being kicked out of Eden). When they run out of carrots to eat they are offered apples by a giant serpent, and they become the best of friends. I would not teach or have this book in my classroom mostly likely. “In the Rabbitgarden” written by Leo Lionni is a great tale about two little bunnies. The rabbitgarden was a great garden with lots of carrots. One day, the older rabbit warned the two bunnies never to leave the garden, because the fox, which lived nearby, was very dangerous. One day, the two bunnies ran out of carrots and didn’t have anything to eat; there problem was solved when they met a friendly serpent who played with them and collected food for them. The serpent became very protective of the bunnies and saved them from the dangerous fox at the end of the story. This is a great story to read to elementary students of all ages because it teaches a great lesson. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
