An uplifting and realistic view of life during WWII and how the war tested the soldiers and their families. ( )

The story of four American women during World War II, who work at the same place. They form a club to help other friends, and to pray for the safety of their loved ones. Good from a historical perspective, but I felt there was rather too much Christian introspection. Not that I disagreed with it as such, but the way it was presented seemed a bit cringeworthy at times, with unrealistically religious conversations. Still, a well-written story on the whole. ( )

This is the story about 4 women during WW2 and their struggle with friendships, marriage, a spouse MIA, and their faith in God to help them through the tough times. I loved the book. It was easy to read and it kept my interest. It was a great break from the dark mysteries and true crime books I usually read. ( )

If I wanted someone to sit and preach at me I would have gone to church instead of picking up this book.

Really though. I understand faith and religion help people so they want to spread it around, share the love. I go to church, I believe in God. But these people were quoting the Bible in daily conversations every other page and it was way too much in your face for me. I only made it through 50 pages, so this could be a fantastic book. But I doubt it. ( )

Fun read, very interesting version of what the women at home went through during the war years. I would recommend it.
