This book is written by one of my favorite authors. I've read his other books and I liked this one just as much, or more. Born in Long Island, New York, he is known as the "Western Lama". Everything in this book is totally accessible, inviting, and educational. I would not consider it 'religion' as the publisher does, because the Buddha was a teacher and not a religious leader. In our global world economies and communications networks, it makes perfect sense to also think globally. I recommend this book for its practical advice and its knowledge of an important wisdom tradition.
Two of my favorite quotes: p.236, "...the truth is that this world itself is the ultimate church, and nature is the greatest altar."
p. 376, "The earth is like an altar, and we are all the gods and goddesses, Buddhas and bodhisattvas on that sacred ground. In that light, reverence for all forms of life comes naturally."

I like reverence for all forms of life. ( )
