This book is a memoir of sorts about what Gary and John go through during the IVF conception, surrogate pregnancy, birth, and long NICU stay of their twin daughters. I love the amount of detail that goes into it, which really gives a great picture of all the highs and lows of what went on.

There's one thing I didn't know about this book when I purchased it, though -- and if I had known this, I might have passed the book by. After the introduction, about 90% of the book is just copied and pasted emails that Gary and John sent or received during this time. While the emails do manage to tell much of the story, it's definitely not the smoothest reading experience. Plus, the emails meant that even the most emotionally intense moments came across in a somewhat detached way.

I still think the book is worth reading, but mostly because this is a topic where there's a huge gap in the world's library. ( )
