Kicsit féltem, hogy mit hoz fel a 9 és fél éves lelkéből, de jól viselte.
Közösen borzongtunk és vágyakoztunk ki a szabadba, az erdőbe, a napfényre, a természetbe, ami sokkal igazabb és tisztább, mint az a betondoboz, amiben élünk. (

I remember the smell of my dad's old copy of this. It is one of my earliest memories, and a book I loved unreservedly. I didn't even know there was a book that came before till much later. I think I need to re-read this one. (

Not as good as Bambi. The usual problem with talking animals - to be interesting they get unrealistic. In Bambi, for all they talked they behaved pretty much like deer. In Bambi's Children, we have politics (the children of the leader are more important), various arguments (the two or three riots between Rolla's family and Faline's), philosophy and mysticism (the owl's quotes, Geno hearing the trees talking), etc. It's a mildly interesting story, but it's stopped being the story of deer and has become a story of humans in deer shape. Even their various interactions with Him reflect that. Not bad, not good. (
