In “Mein Kampf” by Adolph Hitler

What is frightening to me about “Mein Kampf” is that it is a vivid account of what is in the souls of most people, in most cases barely repressed. The fact that history and its mistakes are repeated in spite of Santayana's admonition, may be the consequence of our immature biological evolution, which has remained the same for 2 million years while our cultural evolution marches on. The reptilian brain dominates human endeavors, and power is grabbed with ease by those who have greater or more efficient reptilian attributes. Hitler's cynicism about the acquisition of power and the manipulation of masses in MK is not very different from what we see in some of today's leaders. Both are recipes for dominance, the latter better written and more successful than the former… for now.

I guess the Holocaust wounds are still too open for people to accept its premises, but there are quite a number of surrogate victims that will do for the time being, like homosexuals, blacks, browns, undocumented immigrants, etc. In the US we have not yet (as far as I know) started building the new ovens, but I have no doubt that sooner or later some entrepreneurially savvy people will come around who will disguise them and sell the idea to the people so that they feel better, happier and more secure after the ovens have done their job. The US public has sold away its freedoms for a little bit of so-called 'security', which is the new illusion of the 21st century, and like all other illusions, based on the response of the reptilian brain to a perceived attack, especially if one attack has already happened. In MK it was the humiliation of Germany...here is the humiliation of the corporate power by a few towel heads with box cutters that produces the reaction. In both cases the reaction becomes the defeat of those who react, as happened to Hitler and as it is happening to the USA.

In our case all of us will be guilty, those in power for what they did, those governed for voting them into office, those who don't vote for not voting.

I watched a speech by Hitler on the Yesterday channel in colour, it was fascinating to watch this powerful orator mesmerise his audience and you understand after seeing him why he had such an impact; he is speaking garbage, simplistic nonsense and it's that bit I fail to understand how people were hoodwinked. He would have been laughed at in Portugal as an idiotic mad man. Whatever you may think of the author, "Mein Kampf" is an important historical document and, as someone once said, if we don't learn the lessons of history we are doomed to repeat them.

Out of curiosity I remember back then looking up it on Amazon to find that the cheapest print version was over 21.49 USD, and on BookFinder.com was almost as much. By comparison, you can buy a used copy of “The Communist Manifesto” from Amazon for 1p. Does this indicate we have more to fear from the extreme right than from the extreme left? I believe we need to keep a close eye on all political extremists. Why is everybody so afraid of this book? If it is so awful then let it be read and let people make up their own minds. It’s difficult to get a copy which is not replete with footnotes 'explaining' that Hitler's 'insanity' is clear from this or that statement. So there's not much danger that the SS will rise from the ashes as a result!

The worst thing about “Mein Kampf” is that it is hideously, tediously and appallingly boring, badly written, incoherent and frigging LONG. It does make a useful doorstop, mind you. If you want to hear a better, more pithy and well-reasoned argument, just take a trip in any Lisbon taxi and no doubt the cabbie will tell you in short order just who should be strung up.

My old man said to me once: "You know, you don't really have to try shit to know it tastes like shit". Of course, I read it. And you know what... My old man was right. Maybe I should have read instead the updated version of “Mein Kampf”, the one he finished a few months before he died in Argentina in 1962. ( )

By far the most terrifying thing I have ever read.

For the German reaction to Mein Kamp's copyright ending in 2015:

So I tried looking at things from that point of view of the people on goodreads who give this book 2 or 3 stars. I mean, none I get. FIVE I get. But TWO. What’s that all about? What sort of mind would you have? Nothing if not intrepidly brave (I did start reading Harry Potter, credit where credit is due), I decided to go where no man would normally dare...

Okay, so you can’t give it five stars in all conscience. It was a manifesto for taking over the world and ridding it of various groups of people and that so didn’t happen. Not long after WWII and Jewish people have their own country, nuclear weapons and policies towards their neighbours that’d make Hitler sit up in his grave, smacking himself on the forehead saying ‘Now why didn’t I think of that?’ Gypsies are everywhere playing music and you can even buy it online and everything. I mean, whereever you turn there is some group of people Hitler manifestly failed to extinguish despite giving it his best shot. And personally, I don’t think mediocrity should be encouraged. Kids in school shouldn't be given prizes for not winning and I don’t think Hitler should be given ‘it didn’t work this time, but we are still giving you a vote and maybe next time you’ll - ’ either. Meanwhile, the great motherland is now a place people go to if they really like beer festivals.

On the other hand. I only gave Harry Potter one star.

I have a new shelf now. Better written than Harry P.

On November 9, 1923, at 12:30 in the afternoon, in front of the Feldherrnhalle as well as in the courtyard of the former War Ministry, the following men steadfast in their belief in the resurrection of their people, were killed:

[Names, occupations and birth dates of sixteen (16) men are listed]

So-called national authorities denied these dead heroes a common grave.

Therefore I dedicate to them, for common memory, the first volume of this work, as the blood witnesses of which they may continue to serve as a brilliant example for the followers of our movement.

Existen en la historia innumerables ejemplos que prueban con alarmante claridad cómo, cada vez que la sangre aria se mezcló con la de otros pueblos inferiores, la consecuencia fue la destrucción de la raza portaestandarte de la cultura.
