Chicken Sundays is about a young girl who becomes friends with two neighborhood boys (Stewart and Winston), and their grandma Eula becomes our protagonist's grandma. The three of them must come up with a way to buy Ms. Eula a hat she's been wanting for Easter. The only problem I had with the book is I felt like there was some kind of theme or moral that was a bit all over the place. But if you or your children are looking for an entertaining book that features Russian culture, this is a good read. ( )

I would read this book to older elementary students due to the long length.I would read it to my students and have them write a short narrative about family traditions they have.

To thank old Eula for her wonderful Sunday chicken dinners, the children sell decorated eggs and buy her a beautiful Easter hat.
