Which is odd because that is not a story line which is common in HPs. It was well written for the most part but I had some quibbles about some of the scenes the author chose to include. For example there were two times within the first 24 hours of knowing each other that they came to the VERY brink of having sex. The heroine got cold feet both times. Once I could forgive. Even though I agree that a woman has the right to call a halt at any time, she also has the responsibility to not let it go that far before saying no. Otherwise there are bad names for women like that. So instead of that second abortive scene which really just restated ideas presented in the first aborted scene, I would have preferred more angsty trying to get back together scenes at the end. The whole 'but we're from 2 different times' thing was wrapped up pretty quick and could have used a few more pages. Still worth the read. I really thought that I would like this book. It's not a typical Harlequin Presents book: the setting is the American West, and it involves time travel. But, for some reason, I just couldn't get into this book at all. The hero was a jerk, at one point internally monologuing about how he likes a woman who doesn't want to be equal to men (the exact quote is: "It was just that he didn't go for her type. Independent women, questioning women, ones who thought they were on an equal footing with men... Not that he liked his women stupid. He just liked them to know when to defer to a man. He wasn't into this women's lib nonsense..."). Umm. Okay, I'll be the first to say it, it's not like I read these novels expecting some grand treatise on sexual equality. But I don't want to read that kind of junk, either. The heroine wasn't much better. I found her to be rather annoying and ridiculous. She is terrified that the guy is going to rape her, but as soon as they're alone, she tries to jump his bones. What? I didn't connect with either of the main characters, and I found myself just skimming the story so I could be finished with the book. Altogether, it was a disappointment. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
