The book “Snow” will be an absolute favourite for kids of the within the age of 5, beyond which it might seem somewhat very childish and inadequate. The major attraction of the book lies in its beautiful, abundant illustrations. The author has appealed more to the aesthetic sense of beauty and colour in children like “gray clouds” or how the snow “dresses” the winter and makes the season beautiful rather than providing only scientific facts about it. Her aim has evidently been to make the book an imaginative read for the children for eg. the images of various snow crystals, rather than a factual read. The facts, though provided towards the end, have been presented with subtlety and I believe those could have been better explained. The topic of spring has also been introduced with in a colourful manner. So I would recommend the book as a pleasure or fun-filled leisure read. ( )

Snow is an easy reader that provides factual scientific information about snow (where it comes from and what it is) and weather for young readers to understand.
Great to incorporate into a science lesson around this time of year.
