"A second winter had befallen the town of Winoka, which has been trapped under a mysterious dome of energy since the mayor died. Cut off from food and fuel, Winoka is in serious need of leadership. Vicious dashers and beaststalkers feed off the town's desperation, vying for power. In the chaos, Jennifer Scales--born of two bloodlines: dragon and beaststalker--must choose her own path. But it's Skip Wilson, Jennifer's ex-boyfriend, who truly has the town entangled in his deadly web... Skip's powers are growing and now extend as far as the moon, giving it a sickly hue. Ancient myths refer to this as the Poison Moon--which heralds a new age of arachnid dominance. Skip is bent on total extinction, an all-consuming thirst for revenge coursing through his veins. Can Jennifer peacefully end Skip's reign, or will her own thirst for revenge finally consume her?"--P. [4] of cover. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

I made this the book I keep in my tote bag so I won't be bored out of my skull when I'm stuck waiting in a store or for an appointment and it still took me over a year to finish it. If you've already read one or more of the earlier books, there is a ending, but too many bad things happen to call it happy. The excerpt from the book in a new Jennifer Scales series reminded me of sequels to horror films where you can't feel good about the one or more survivors from the first one because of his/her/their fate(s) revealed in the sequel.
Need I mention that I wasn't enticed into seeking out that new series?
If you love angst and bad happenings, by all means, read Jennifer Scales. If you're looking for something fun to lighten your day, steer clear. ( )
