It is about a penguin whose foot gets hurt and has to be taken out of the water to get help. He worries his friends will make fun of him since he can olny waddle but when he comes back in his new cool jacket all his friends love him. I picked this book because I wanted to read a childrens book that was factual. For this book, I would have the students write about a time they were sick and who helped them get better. I thought this was a really great book for several reasons. First, I thought that the language was both sweet, because of it's rhyming pattern, and informational because of the many penguin-specific words used. The plot flowed smoothly as it told the story of a woman who helps a featherless penguin in his new habitat. The characters are direct representatives of real penguins and people, and portray the emotions and actions revolving around helping the animals. The main idea of this book is to see a need and fill a need. This is evident when the woman finds a way to create a wet-suit for the penguin and help him to become a normal part of his new habitat in the aquarium. Cute story with nice illustrations. Who doesn't love a penguin! I kept waiting to hear what was wrong with Pierre, and had to read to FAQ at the back to find out. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
