Tiny Bear has trouble with big bears bullying him, Mary Louise suffers from "Accidentitus" but doesn't let it stop her enjoying life, Charlie Chef Bear longs to be a world-famous chef but his sauces taste awful, and Scrappy, whose seams are coming apart, continues to be a wonderfully happy bear. These are a few of the teddy bears that Olive Evans has written poems about in "The Thrift Store Bears." The bears were 'rescued' from thrift stores and now live "in a sunny room downstairs" in her "old redwood house by the sea." Patricia Woolley used the teddy bears as her models when painting the colorful illustrations. Jim Furmston produced the CD and composed 'foot tapping' music for each poem, to accompany Olive Evans' narration. The book is written for children and teddy bear lovers of all ages. The bears deal with problems, large and small, but they find ways to overcome them with the help and support of one another. The poems are written with love and humor and remind the reader that a caring family, friends and a good dose of laughter can help tremendously in coping with life's challenges.
