I'm not surprised there are very few reviews of this as I understood almost none of it - but that's what I like in this sort of book. My partner picked it up as a present for me in a charity shop and I spent some very pleasant times just reading through the section headings, although having now read it cover to cover I'm not sure why I found 'Arbitrary suspension of the Equivalence Princlple' or 'Attempts to eliminate the "dark star" explanation' so enthralling. I liked the name of Acoustic Metrics but after looking it up on the internet I am no wiser. Nonetheless I have enjoyed it a lot.… (mer)

A book that should have been around years ago to show rather than theorise geometry. The illustrations are very clear and certainly helped me understand more than I did. A very useful book for mathmaticians and novices who have an interest in factuals

This is a visual (rather than a purely mathematical) guide to the world of fractals. You won’t find many equations or algorithms but you will encounter hundreds of pictures, most of them stunning – the few that aren’t turn out to be thumbnails giving constructional details, so it’s all good stuff.

This book would find a very happy home on the shelf of an advanced mathematics student who already has the dry mathematical theory texts but who is looking for a visual feast for the eyes, or indeed anyone who has a passing interest in fractal design.… (mer)

I received this book through Member Giveaways and found it to be quite enjoyable. Even with a background in architecture and design instead of math, this book was easy to understand, very interesting, and written with the average person in mind. I have explored fractals as a generative design tool in the past, and this book increased my knowledge and potential to explore fractals again in the future. The generative diagrams are especially helpful and clear.
