Een vlot en helder geschreven boek over de (psychische) beleving van het geadopteerd-zijn. Hoewel geschreven vanuit ervaringen uit de Verenigde Staten, is het boek ook in Nederland aan te bevelen voor een ieder die direct of indirect met adoptie te maken heeft of zal krijgen. De diverse thema's die (kunnen) spelen komen uitgebreid en met name rechtstreeks uit adoptie-ervaringen aan de orde en worden herkenbaar beschreven. Als vader van twee adoptie-kinderen ben ik veel herkenbaars in het boek tegengekomen en heb ik het doorlezen ervan als zeer nuttig beschouwd. De auteurs, afkomstig uit de psychologie en psychiatrie, zijn erin geslaagd hun ervaringen met adoptie op bijzonder leesbare wijze, zonder gebruik van (niet eerst goed uitgelegd) vakjargon, op papier te zetten.… (mer)
