It takes patience to wade through a history of death in Western philosophy, and I would imagine some readers lack such patience and discipline. However, for those who have those virtues, this is the best book on Western philosophy and death out there. I have not seen any book quite like it, and until someone more contemporary attacks the history of philosophy and death, this book will remain the standard in the field.
