Friends to Lovers with a lot of steam. This story starts with high school where we see Mia craving her own path in life and how others so immaturely treat each other with only a note from someone anonymous giving her a spark of hope and joy. She always crushed on Barrett yet he never seemed to notice her or so she thinks, and this continues to college where they both can’t seem to get themselves together to acct on these feelings, until years later when fate intervenes. The angst in this story held me captive and yet at times things seemed to be lost on me like when Barrett goes to state his intentions to Mia’s family, I thought he was just going to let them know how much he loved her and they would start dating, but a few pages later we find out they are engaged. Other than things like that this was a cute read that has you cheering for them, and I was so happy when Mia would stand her ground not letting Barrett getting away with his actions, yet still loving him.… (mer)
