Renee Roman

Jordan owns a construction company and focuses on that while she deals with the death of her father. She’s also dealing with poor self-esteem issues and has convinced herself that she is unworthy of love. Calli is a glass artist who has been commissioned to add several pieces to a house being built by Jordan. When the two of them meet, it doesn’t go well. Callie finds herself attracted to the handsome curmudgeon Jordan. While Callie is focused on building her own business, she isn’t opposed to spending an evening or two with a handsome butch.

Roman has written a story which has already been published by others in the last year. While she hasn’t added anything to this storyline, she has created two interesting characters in Jordan and Callie, but lets both her readers and characters down by saying that serious mental issues like persistent depression can be “cured” by the love of a good woman. Roman also allows that one issue dominate the story ad nauseum – readers may find themselves skipping through the seemingly endless pages of Jordan’s telling readers about her angst.

Regardless of the deficiencies in the storyline, Roman has given readers a well-written, fast-paced romance that should please both her fans and new-to-her readers.

Blaze is a carpenter. She's also a bit of a player, but, wants commitment and something longer lasting more than anything. She also loves her job creating things out of wood. And then she's in a horrible accident and there's a question of if she'll ever be able to do what she loves again.

Trinity is her nurse in the ED when she first gets there. She's totally focused on her job. On getting to her goals, and making sure she is never in the same situation that she was as a kid. As she starts falling for Blaze, and Blaze for Trinity they both have to confront their own issues before they can maybe find each other.

It was awesome characters for sure, and while mostly a usual sort of romance, the storyline flowed well too. I will say that I thought that there'd be a little more tension when it came to Blaze's injury. It was emphasized at first, but, then seemed like it was forgotten really fast.

Overall it was a fun read though!

Both Sarah and Cam have issues. Cam's are from her childhood. It was horrendous. Sarah's have come more recently. Her adoptive parents have both died, but her Mom left her with a letter saying she had a twin brother.

She hires Cam, who is a PI, to try and find her brother, but, she doesn't have much to go on. And, of course, as they slowly fall in love, it also seems like neither is quite ready or able to have that love. They also slowly find her brother (maybe).

The question is, what happens when two twins meet, to will they even meet at all?

It was an intense novel, and while the romance wasn't super surprising, the twin search did surprise me here and there. It was a fun read.

Whew. This novel starts really, really, really In Media Res. Right smack dab in the middle of Sean and Jade's relationship. Jade is a newly broken out writer who writes lesbian fiction. She was attacked at one point and so hired Sean as a bodyguard/personal assistant.

We step into the story a bit after that has happened. That did make it a little hard to get into-- to get the characters fully in my brain.

Once I did though, it was a fun book (well, a super intense fun book).

I liked the uniqueness of the characters and the who's doing it part of the story kept me guessing just enough too.

There was a little niggling thing that stayed with me though. Jade told Sean about Rachael for the 'first time' not once, but twice, and the second time it pulled me from the story.

Overall it was a good and enjoyable read (hmm... maybe there'll be an Anne story at some point too?)
