This book of natural photography contains images of moths and butterflies from around the globe. Hidden in the designs on the butterfly wings are each letter of the alphabet. The images are real, not altered or computer animated. As a bonus, the photographer also added the numbers 0-9 found on butterfly wings. Young children will enjoy the colorful photographs and finding the letters and numbers hidden in wing designs.

Summary: this book is able to combine the patterns of butterflies and the alphabet in a rather interesting way. The author has the pictures and names of 26 moths and butterflies, and each one has a marking on it that can be interpreted to look like a letter of the alphabet, and a little poem using the letter on the page.
Review: this makes a good informational book by combining learning the alphabet and teaching it in a unique way by showing how nature displays it in the animals that wander the earth. This way I believe is more special because it can link it to something children might find cool or beautiful, butterflies.

This book is great for older grades! The pictures in this book are very interesting. I could not imagine how long it took to find the entire alphabet hidden in the wings of countless butterflies! This book also offers information and facts about many different butterflies. Great resource book!

Beautiful! A truly beautiful collection of super-closeup photos of markings of butterflies and moths that form letters of the alphabet. The rhyming couplets for each page are delightful. Each insect is identified by name on the alphabet page, and more in detail in an addendum at the end. Love it!
