Jack, Katie Beth and Charlie grew up together and are all anxious to graduate and begin the next phase in their life. For Jack it's college, for Katie Beth it's nursing school and Charlie isn't sure yet. But one thing is sure, Katie Beth and Jack have discovered that what they fell for each other is more than just friendship. Then came the bombing of Pearl Harbor which would ultimately change the paths of these three friends. They would each play a roll in serving their country at a time when love of country and faith in God was important. Folks sacrificed and some made the ultimate sacrifice. Jack and Katie Beth's love will be tested on many different levels. Can it survive the ravages of war?

On the Wings of the Eagle will take you through the tragedy and triumph of World War II. We see how God's watchful care was present even in devastating circumstances. You'll quickly find yourself immersed into the lives of Jack, Katie Beth and Charlie as they each play a vital roll in their service. I was encouraged, as a reader, by the faith of these folks and how that played out into everyday life, in practical ways, and what the influence of that was on other peoples lives. One thing that really made this story extra special was that the war stories were actually true. They were stories the author gathered from family and friends. Keep that in mind as you're reading and be sure to read the author's note at the end. So settle in and get ready because On the Wings of the Eagle you'll find a story that will linger in your mind long after the last page is turned.

I loved this story! It was a story about not casting judgement upon someone without knowing all the facts; of letting your light shine before men that they will see your goods works and glorify God; of keeping a commitment to God (as a young woman) to wait until marriage before having a physical relationship with a man; of how important it is to have a firm foundation of faith so you have something to lean on when tragedy strikes. I say well done on telling this story Kathleen Sherwood!

Connor Christianson is a successful New York lawyer who promises his younger brother on his death bed that he will find his child that he has never seen and take care of her and tell the mother he is sorry. Connor sets out to find and take care of the child, but is mad that the mother wasn't there with the child at the end of his brother's life, and he plans to get custody of this little one.

Kaley Mills if trying to get her life on track as she raises her young daughter Macie. She works at a diner at night and goes to school during the day to become a teacher. When a stranger enters the diner one night it will be the beginning of a different kind of life for Kaley and for Connor. Connor is a bitter man and Kaley will have a tough time softening his heart with her life style and witness for her Lord. They both have broken pasts and will find themselves drawn to each other by a love that is strong and true.

I fell in love with the story from the very beginning. I was so glad the story continued on even after Connor and Kaley finally got together. There was so much love and understanding between these two. The growing and sharing and openness they finally found with each other was refreshing. I grew quite found of these two and of little Macie and the other characters in this story. There were unexpected things that happened in this story that I wasn't expecting and I always like to be surprised. All in all I highly recommend this story and this author.

Connor Christianson is a successful lawyer who can pretty much have whatever money can buy. To bad he can't buy love. His terrible childhood has made him cold and indifferent to just about everyone except his dying brother, Allen. Connor plans to keep the promise he made to Allen, it just might tougher than he thought. Kaley Mills doesn't have money but she has great faith in a great God. She works in a diner and is almost finished with her teaching degree. She's doing her best to raise her daughter, Macie and giving her all the love she never got growing up. One day, Connor comes into the diner. Kaley is immediately taken with him but sees he has a troubled spirit. Her kind and bubbly personality isn't what Connor expected, nor was her great faith in God. Connor comes to her rescue a couple of times and has opportunities to observe her with Macie and realizes what a good and loving mother she is. As they spend more time together, the connection between Connor and Kaley is growing stronger. The road ahead, however, is winding and bumpy. Is Kaley's faith strong enough to see her though. Will Connor be able to let go of past hurts and reach out to God for healing? Can promises made, be kept?

WOW! What an amazing story of God's love and grace. The Promise draws you in right from the start and doesn't let you go until the last page is turned. You'll find tragedy and triumph and lots of twists and turns, which is a definite plus for me. I love stories where there is lots of interaction and dialog between the main characters and that's exactly what I found here. Connor and Kaley shared a such a strong chemistry that it really set the stage for lots of great romantic tension, which I love! Kaley was such a loveable lady. Her strong faith was a great example to Connor as well as to the reader. Connor was one leading man you won't soon forget. His strong yet tender ways will make you swoon! Macie will completely win you over with her cute personality. The secondary characters are as full of life as Connor and Kaley, which really enhances the reading experience. This was the kind of story, that when you get to the last page (although you hate to see it end) you feel totally satisfied. Kathleen Sherwood is a favorite author and I must say, this is a favorite story. One I would find myself reading again. If you enjoy a character-driven story, with lots of great romantic tension along with a great message, than I promise you, you will love 'The Promise'!

This story is a sequel to the book McKenna and just as good if not better than the first book. I suppose you could read it as a stand alone, but you will miss out on so much if you don't read these two stories in the order they were written. Both are so good and so worth it!

The Parkers' oldest daughter, Rachel, is now grown up and thinking her life is pretty perfect, as she is teaching and looking foward to someday being married to her childhood friend, Mark O'Malley, who has just finished his schooling to become a doctor. But as time goes by and Mark's brother Matthew spends more and more time around Rachel, she begins to realize that maybe she is thinking about marrying the wrong O'Malley brother. Matthew has loved Rachel from afar for a long time and seeing her and his brother think about marriage is tearing him up inside.

This book not only told the story of Rachel, Mark and Matthew, but also kept the story of McKenna and her husband and their past alive and closed some chapters on their lives. It had alot of little closures to folks you have met in the first book. I loved the way this author writes and how she incorporates the strong Christian beliefs these folks had and how their faith and trust in their Lord got them through some diffcult situations and times. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting this book done until I was finished. A warm, romantic story with alot going on that will keep you interested and enjoying yourself to the very end.
