My 18-month-old asks for this book again and again. Her favorite part is "Dinosaur above and dinosaur below" because I hold the book way up high on "above" and put it down on the ground for "below" -- she thinks it's hilarious.

Dinosaur Roar! immediately catches the eye with its striking silver foil cover. It features a fiercely roaring T-Rex with a small dinosaur looking suitably unimpressed. Inside is a double spread with all sorts of dinosaurs to feast your eyes on; every shape, colour and size imaginable.

The wording is simple and kept to a minimum with large text that jumps off the page. The illustrations are vibrant and whimsical, with emphasis on each dinosaurs features and expressions bringing them to life on the page.

Both Dot and Ditto are enthusiastic dinosaur fans and are eager to have the book read over and over, each reading being an educational experience with the use of opposites in the text and a natural cadence in the rhyming of words. Dot quickly learnt what was to come next and enjoyed joining in.
*I received a copy from the publisher to read.

This is a cute book about a bear who lived at the North Pole and went exploring, he did get lost while he was out but he fell into Santa's workshop. Then he became Santa's helper for the day and got a tour of Santa's workshop and got to do all sorts of fun things while helping Santa prepare the toys for Christmas day. Then Santa gave him a gift and took him in his sleigh home to be with his parents on Christmas day.

Not my favorite book to read but H enjoys it. The opposites are occasionally not the most obvious choices as they need to fit into the rhyme.... Which is often lost being that there are only a few words on a page and we have big pauses between pages because we sign and talk about the dinosaurs and the meaning of the words rather than fly through the book.

The first thing I noticed about this book was the very bright and colorful illustrations! Just gorgeous. The story offers excellent contrasting words (ex. spiky and lumpy), though most aren't true opposite pairs. Nonetheless, it gives children great examples of various descriptive words and onomatopoeia.

Teaches opposites through rhythmic, rhyming simple text. A good bit of vocabulary for little ones as well.

We love this book. The illustrations are fun and bright, and the story is told in rhyme that is short and thankfully well-written. It's all about dinosaurs, which is an instant draw for kids, and focuses on antonyms by juxtaposing dinosaurs with opposite traits. The quality of the rhythm makes it a good choice for read aloud, and the ending is oodles of fun if you pretend to eat your audience just like the dinosaurs are chowing down. We always have a fun tickle fest at the end. I highly recommend this book for entry readers and the whole family.

"Dinosaur fast, dinosaur slow". Dinosaur Roar is a delightful book using pictures of colorful and comical dinosaurs and rhyming to teach children about opposites. I really had fun reading this book and looking at the illustrations. The illustrations bring the dinosaurs to life and do a good job of illustrating emotions. When the text says, "Dinosaur sweet, dinosaur grumpy" the dinosaurs really do appear to be sweet or grumpy. With simple text and an average of two words per page the story is great for a quick read aloud or for independent reading for young children who have not yet developed advanced reading skills. Even children who are not yet literate will enjoy looking at the pictures on their own and contrasting the two different dinosaurs shown.

This beginning identification book is very well-made, and very appealing with the cute and colorful pictures of dinosaurs, but also images from London’s Natural History Museum. Twelve different types of dinosaurs are presented in this book (each is given a descriptive nickname like “Dinosaur Long”, “Dinosaur Slimy”, “Dinosaur Roar”, etc.). For each, the scientific name, pronunciation and meaning of name are provided. A short text gives information on when they lived (an illustrated timeline is also provided at the beginning of the book), their anatomy and sometimes their social habits and the area on Earth where they lived. A helpful dinosaur to man comparison size chart is given for each as well as their weight, defense mechanism(s) and diet. An annotated illustration points out notable features of each dinosaur’s anatomy. The watercolor illustrations make each dinosaur appear quite gentle and not too scary, but images from the Natural HM show each dinosaur in a natural setting, which enables children to see what they really looked like (at least, from what is known about them). This is definitely an excellent introductory book to different kinds of dinosaurs for all kids interested in these animals. A glossary and index are provided at the end. Appropriate for ages 5-8.½

A variety of dinosaurs are discussed using opposite words and descriptive vocabulary. A simple book to teach these concepts to children who love dinosaurs.

This book incorporates the instant little boy magnet of dinosaurs. Each of the two page spreads include a word or action on one side while the other page reflects the opposite. Example: dinosaur above....and dinosaur below. The illustrations work nicely in conjunction with the text. The illustration that accompanies the stated example is one dinosaur sitting on top of another.

This is a cute dinosaur title that is absolutely perfect for toddler and preschool storytimes. It functions wonderfully as a quick story in between two longer stories, and it can be a sound-effects laden, audience participation fest. The illustrations are bright, lively, and large-format. Each two-page spread has just a few words on it. The only problem with larger storytimes is that some of the elements aren't too distinct - for instance, it'd be pretty hard for a kid at the back of the room to see "Dinosaur Tiny" in comparison to "Dinosaur Fat." But still it's lovely and superfun, if not a substantial story by any means.½

This book goes over many opposites for young children with bright fun pictures of many different dinosaurs. For example clean and dirty, big and small, also it is full of rhyming words that keep children’s attention.

I like this book for young children ages two to six. Dinosaurs always interest young children and they like to help me read the words after so many times. The illustrations are lovely and big enough that the children can stay sitting and still see the pages.

With this book you can set out folder games with matching opposites. You can also have a box of dinosaurs out in the science area for the children to explore. There are many opposites games you can play with the children to help them with the concept.

So fun to read with different voices. A strong voice for the dinosaur strong and a little voice for the dinosaur meek. Again, this is a book I have read to toddlers and they love it. They can start to read along with you because of memorizing the pictures and what words go with them. This is a book that also teaches opposites.
