What makes a joke "sick"? Traditionally, it deals with topics that are edgy, outrageous, insensitive, and impinge on a social taboo. In 1979, when this small book was published, lots of topics were fair game for humor: sex, disability, insanity, death, and ethnicity, and even cannibalism. In today's ultra-sensitive age, where self- proclaimed victims abound and even the most innocuous observation can be found offensive, a book like this could probably not find a publisher. At this point, the book is a period - piece, and (with only 7 LT members willing to admit to having one), few copies are likely to exist. For my part, I would have found this more humorous decades ago, and at this point, will award it two stars for old- time's sake, and send it off for donation.
