Not much of a story -- really all counting, but what a glorious set of illustrations, and a lovely selection of primates. Yes, I read it for monkey storytime, but I appreciate the primate of it all. Just beautiful, and hey, evolution/we are all connected for little kids. ( )

Bright, colorful and beautifully illustrated book for teaching children how to count. As well as to learn the different species of primates from spider monkey's to gorillas. ( )

1, 2, 3, 4... ¿Estamos aprendiendo a contar hasta el 10 en casa o en la escuela? Este libro es maravilloso porque recorremos los números del 1 al 10 de una manera increíble, pues no solo contamos si no que, aprendemos las distintas especies de monos que existen. Entonces aprendemos algo de Ciencias Naturales y del reino animal y además los vamos contando uno a uno... ¡qué divertido! Y el final, ¿qué les puedo decir? Una conclusión real y verdadera en nuestra manera de pensar y ver el mundo.

I love the simple layout of the book; oversized numbers that correspond to stunning illustrations of various types of primates (1 gorilla, 2 orangutans etc.). There is an unexpected message at the end of the numbers, an illustration of the author and the words, "All primates. All one family. All my family..." and then on the following page it continues with, "and yours!" along with a two-page spread of various people, young and old, various skin/hair/eye colors, representing a cross-section of the human race. In the classroom, I would use this book during a study of animals or at the beginning of the year, in discussions of family/community.
