After the Great Fire of 1666, the homeless of London have nowhere to go. By royal command, they are provided with shelter underground, beneath the foundations of St Paul's cathedral. Locked away from normal life, the population evolve over 400 years without the trappings of the modern world above...until the 21st century when their existence becomes threatened by the very people who once allowed them to stay.The Song of the Underground is a story about a secret world, self-sufficient with its own industry and laws, and a desirable mineral, which could be used to illuminate London for the next two centuries.
