A delightful read filled with genuine laughs, sweet romance, and what every girl dreams of: the perfect wedding dress!

Katie Fisher grew up in a small town and is accustomed to routine. When she takes a chance and enters a contest meant for brides and wins, she has to face the reality of what happens when dreams get ahead of real life.

I found Katie to be charming, her family to be hilarious, and the circumstances the characters face to be delightful. I can relate to Katie, being from a small town myself, and enjoyed the growth that comes with figuring out whether to stay where you're comfortable or to take a risk on something new.

There were a few things that seemed a little...far fetched to me (I won't mention them so I don't spoil anything) but I tried to just take them in stride with the story. I also wish I could have seen more details about the handsome pro-basketball player, but I have suspicions on why there wasn't more about him in this particular book.

I liked the secondary plot involving Katie's family as well. Janice really pulls off the close family dynamics and adds quite a bit of humor that pulls you along. I would say that I felt there was a bit too much telling vs. showing in my opinion. Granted, we're in Katie's point of view the whole time so it's only natural, but I would have loved less "and then we talked about" statements.

All in all, it was a delightful, easy read. Lighthearted and fun with just enough romance to pull you along but enough plot to keep you going as well. I'd recommend this to fans of comedy, romantic comedy, and romance.

An enjoyable book that I liked reading. I liked seeing how things did not go exactly as planned for Katie, but how things turned out for the better. Katie felt that she knew exactly how her life was going to go from an early age, but a change of events made her realize different.
This is a lighthearted book that still leaves you thinking. While we got the see the fun that Katie got herself into and out of, we also go to see how she was able to get through it all.
I received this book free to review from the publisher. ( )

I don't usually enjoy plain romances that but but I can't say that now. This was so good. I laughed on almost every page. Katie and Brady were great together. It was fun to see how small towns and big towns can be equal when it comes to marriages. It would have been fun to win a designer wedding dress. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received this book from Revell reads for a fair and honest opinion. ( )

Katie Fisher's small town of Fairfield, Texas is all she knows and all she wants. Surrounded by family, friends and her long-term boyfriend, Casey, her life is almost complete. Having dreamed of being a bride and wife all her life, she is beyond ready for Casey to pop the question. She's sure it will be soon and with the encouragement of her cousin, she enters an essay to win a one-of-a-kind wedding dress. Ironically, on the same day she wins the dress, her boyfriend breaks up with her. Tired of everyone knowing and talking about her business, she travels to Dallas for some time away from Fairfield and to inform the bridal shop owner that she can no longer claim the prize. She's unprepared for the owner's son, a recovering, handsome and single pro-basketball player named Brady. As Katie is swept along through the fitting and designing, she and Brady strike an easy friendship that could be so much more. Will Brady discover her secret and will he want anything to do with her if he does? Read more in Every Bride Needs a Groom by Janice Thompson.

Every Bride Needs a Groom commences Janice Thompson's “Brides with Style” series and delivers an emotional story about losing dreams and finding new hope. Though there were plenty of issues for Katie to work through, I would have liked a little more depth. In spite of Katie's (and her family's) issues, the story felt pretty light overall. Katie's character exemplified uniqueness and beauty. I was initially unsure if I would like the first person point-of-view, especially since Katie has such quirky, small-town mindset (at least in the beginning), but after a few chapters, I enjoyed seeing her life from her perspective. As with other books by Janice Thompson, movie trivia and humorous situations are woven into the plot.

Every Bride Needs a Groom is solidly written and will likely appeal to readers looking for a clean, sweet romance with touches of humor.

Back in Texas with Brides, and there are mentions of previously loved characters that we have come to know well. This book focus on a young woman obsessed with getting married, and probably she should be, as she has been in a long-term relationship. When the book opens she is expecting Chase to pop the question any day, or today to be exact.
With the anticipated proposal Katie Fisher enters a contest to win an exclusive wedding gown made especially for the winner. When she wins and her prospective groom leaves to take a job elsewhere, what should she do? She feels a moral dilemma to let those the bridal shop know that she is not getting married.
What will Katie do? God has his hand on her, and you will love how things work out for her and her family. I never saw all the relationships that are about to start! There is also a sad, long standing, and I mean years, of no contact between Katie’s Grandmother Queenie and her sister. How sad.
Come along and enjoy a sweet fast read, that once you pick up you can’t put down. There are a lot of surprises, and family love, enough to go around, I loved this!
