This is so awesome, because the library just bought like six books I had requested forever ago! I am so excited to get to read this wonderful collection! With all the great attention being brought to the importance of hearing from different voices in literature, it’s especially great to see a book featuring short stories about teens who have disabilities, and these were varied and really cool. Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader. This anthology includes a wide range of styles and genres, so I didn't expect every story to click. But plenty of them did. Three stories in a row were realistic current day, then supernatural horror, then SF (with hoverbikes!). I liked all of them. Conceptually, this reminds me of the 2008 anthology "She's such a geek!" That was nonfiction, but it was a collection of very personal voices, writing from their geek experiences. "Unbroken" is fiction including disabilities by authors with disabilities. Give it a try and find some new perspectives and new authors to follow. And ask your library to get it for the teen section. I haven't read this book, but I gave it to my daughter for Christmas, and she has barely let it out of her hands since. She has an unprecedented level of ALL-CAPS ENTHUSIASM about how INCREDIBLY AMAZING AND WONDERFUL this book is, so I feel comfortable rating and endorsing it regardless. She's since talked it up to her english teacher and they are now considering adding it to the curriculum. I'm so happy to see this book published, I'm so happy to see how much it means to my favourite human, and I hope this is the first of many to add such important and long-ignored stories to our culture. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

-The Long Road: A girl with what I think is bipolar disorder travels with her parents from East Asia (?) to Persia for treatment in ancient times.
-Britt and the Bike God: A romance develops between two long-distance cyclists, one Blind and the other ostensibly sighted.
-The Leap and the Fall: (I follow this author on Twitter, where she promoted this book. That's how I found out.) Two girls go to an abandoned carnival and read Tarot cards. I couldn't figure out who had what disability.
-Per Aspera and Astra: A sci-fi story in which an agoraphobic computer nerd (said fondly!) goes to school in person, and in the interest of not spoiling it, I'll write: a bunch of action things happened.
-Found Objects: A drama written in second person. A Latinx chronic pain sufferer is active in his high school drama club. He reflects on family and friendship.
-Plus One: A mystery in which a girl and her family complete Hajj. (Please correct me if that's not the proper description; I mean no harm.)
-The Day the Dragon Came: A dual perspective fantasy romance involving an indentured servant and a man who helps build a tower.
-Captain, My Captain: A teen reflects on family and comforts a friend over the death of her pet goldfish.
-Dear Nora Jones, You Know Nothing About Love: A teen dating advice columnist with IBS tries to cope with her parents' divorce and her condition.
-A Play in Many Parts: Written in both script and story format, a chronically ill actor describes the preparations his youth theatre company does before opening night.
-Ballad of Weary Daughters: A bipolar teen struggles with a crush, finding a medication that works, and the fact that her dad walked out.
-Mother Nature's Youngest Daughter: A teen from a family that can control the weather uses her powers creatively to deal with a bully.
-A Curse, A Kindness: A dual perspective fantasy romance in which an autistic teen is granted three wishes. ( )
