Thanks to the publisher and edelweiss for this DRC. I fell in love with this quirky, "weird" main character from the very beginning. I have a son who was the same growing up and it was extremely insightful to read Aurora's thoughts on the various interactions she has. I believe that this book will help kids' understand a little more of what it feels like to not fit in. It may even temper some of the bullying behavior that kids like Aurora experience. On another note, it was great to revisit Heidi and to know how her life turned out. Even though she only shows up toward the end of the book, she really is a main character. And Roy and Ruby...well they are also great to follow, especially as an adult reader of this book. This should be on every public and school library's shelf. Young girls will love it! inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

All her life Aurora has heard stories about how wonderful and lucky Heidi is, and soon this paragon (now grown up and expecting a baby) will be visiting; but before she arrives part of their house is damaged in a fire, and worse, Aurora's beloved dog disappears--and while her parents have always believed in "soof" (Heidi's mom's word for love), Aurora, who has never really fit in with children her own age, will just have to find her own soof. I had never read her work before and though this book is a continuation of a story she wrote previously, it's one that you can read with no prior knowledge.
The story deals with a young girl who struggles with her feelings about the events in her life (sorry if thats vague but i dont want to give anything away). I liked how authentic her voice felt and how real her emotions seemed.
It was sweet, touching, well written and succinct. ( )
