Students of all ages enjoyed this read aloud. A butterfly is the narrator and talks about all the cool things butterflies do. But he's warning you... butterflies are gross. You will be shocked! We learn that some butterflies are carnivorous, stinky, sneaky, and some even have butts that look like heads. It is an entertaining informational read and gives the opportunity to talk about new vocabulary as well as lends itself to awesome butterfly crafts. The last few pages gives a synopsis about all of the different types of butterflies from the book, including where they live, what they look like, and even what they may sound like. Everyone knows that butterflies are pretty...but they are also pretty gross! They eat rotten food and even poop; some are carnivorous, some are stinky, some are plain, some are sneaky (caterpillars that smell and sound like ants). Facts such as these will delight bug-loving readers: "Some butterflies have butts that look like heads." A final double-page spread contains an illustration, name, and information about the butterflies in the book, including monarchs, giant swallowtails, red crackers, and more. Informative and humorous! Would work well as a read-aloud/storytime book. See also: A Butterfly is Patient by Hutts & Long inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
