( ) I did generally enjoy this, although it took me forever to get through which means I didn't feel the need to come back to it when I'd put it down. There was a lot of pages for what ended up being not a lot actually happening, but I did think the ending worked well to bring Gavin and Hudson properly together. I also realized that apparently one of my triggers is custody issues with children as even the threat of custody loss regarding Gavin's daughter here was extremely upsetting for me. Hudson is the new guy in his fourth team in a quick succession, and has given up on letting his teammates know the real him. Gavin, who starts as one of the team's athletic trainers, catches him on a rare night out and gets to know him in a way his team he doesn't. But becoming a couple in that situation isn't that easy. This was really good! Sarina Bowen is one of my must-read authors so I am always eager to get my hands on anything that she writes. I was even more excited when I found out that she had written a new M/M hockey romance and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Once I started listening to this book, I did not want to put it down. I wanted so much to see Gavin and Hudson make things work and couldn’t wait to see them find their happily ever after together. I loved Hudson and Gavin together and thought that the chemistry that they shared was incredible. Gavin is a single father after his husband died suddenly several years earlier. Hudson is the new guy on Brooklyn’s hockey team. He is used to being the new guy since he seems to be traded almost every season, making it hard to make real connections. As a result, he has kept the fact that he is attracted to men to himself. Gavin happens to be the athletic trainer for the same team, which makes things very interesting. It doesn’t take long for this pair to realize they cannot resist one another. Teddy Hamilton and J.F. Harding completely nailed this narration. They both did a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life and adding a lot of emotion to their reading. I felt like their voices complimented each other’s very well. Once I had my headphones on, I did not want to take them off and ended up listening to this book for hours at a time. I am positive that their narration only added to my enjoyment of this story. I would highly recommend this book to others. Gavin and Hudson are incredibly likable characters who were meant to be together. This book had me swooning from the start and I felt invested in this pair’s relationship very early on. I cannot wait to read more of Sarina Bowen’s work! "My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me New Guy. That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That's what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season. But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first. What he doesn't do is hook up with the other new guy -- a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He's a single dad with responsibilities. We can't be a couple. My arrogant agent -- who's also my father -- will lose his mind if I'm dating a dude. And my team needs to score goals, not whip up a media circus. Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other..." -- back cover. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
