"Home wiring is a different kind of skill from all the other building trades and do-it-yourself subjects. In many of these other pursuits, you can simply follow along, step-by-step, and if you're careful you'll end up with fabulous results. But in wiring, background information is absolutely critical to doing good work. You need to understand not only that the black wire connects to the brass screw, but what each part is doing and how it fits together with the rest of the electrical system. Electricity is all about flow, and any part of the system can affect any other part, even though they may be opposite sides of the house and seemingly unrelated. In "Home Wiring" produced by and for the members of the Handyman Club of America, wiring professional and expert Rex Cauldwell does more than just teach which wire goes where, he explains the critical why and how of it. And Rex should know, he's been a practicing professional electrician for decades, and is one of the country's most notable home wiring writers and authorities." --provided by Goodreads.… (mer)

This is a great book on home wiring. It covers everything in the national electric code. Unlike other books, the author tries to explain why the various rules in the code are written. There is even some coverage of the commercial code. ( )
