At first I disliked how similar the story is to actual pride and prejudice (which I probably should have assumed from the title). But after a couple really predictable twists and turns, I started to enjoy it for the easy, feel-good read it is. I do love murder mysteries, but there’s also something nice about a plot that you can predict with certainty where you’re only waiting for the payoff. ( )
I really quite enjoyed this novel, although based on something of a fantasy and a departure from the type of stories I would normally choose (excluding Harry Potter naturally) it was a clever concept and well executed. The sort of book that makes you think "I wish I had thought of that..." ( )
This was a fun, light-hearted read, but in comparison to other Pride and Prejudice re-makes, it falls short. This book doesn't even try to hide the fact that the main character's plot lines parallel those in the book and I really wish it had been a bit more subtle. ( )
The part of me that fell in love with Darcy at a very young, impressionable age made me buy this book...and I loved it! The whole idea of the parallel stories but the blindness of the heroine to the similarities, intrigued me and I could not put this down. It is not great literature, it doesn't pretend to be, it is a bit of fun, a bit of fun that I thoroughly enjoyed. ( )
