Pratz, the birth place of my paternal grandfather, was captured in the first days of the offensive, and is mentioned five times in the narrative. The book is not professionally done, so often one is not too interested. But there were interesting parts in the book. There is some of what living soldiers of the Nazis now feel about what they did and believed during the war, but much of the book tells of personal experiences which narratives do not seem all that different.

2950 The Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg: The Southern Flank December 1944-January 1945 Vol II The Americans, by Roland Gaul translated from the German by Edward Force (read 28 Jan 1997) This volume consists of American accounts of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxemburg and also of civilian accounts. It was kind of a chore to read, since it gives different accounts by different people, many talking about the same events. But it is of interest, and the author has done a service for local history. There was no mention of Pratz in this volume and I now doubt that it was recaptured by the Germans in December 1944--Diekirch is the focus of the book, and it is some distance east of Pratz (the birthplace of my paternal grandfather).
