The story of a half Native American artist who struggles with an abusive father and a mother with a mental disorder. She can't deal with the abuse her father heaps on her and begins cutting to deal with the pain. She hides it from her family and friends. She tries to stop when her friend finds out, and she meets this boy. She can't save herself, though, and her problem continues to get worse. I enjoyed this book. It was honest and heartfelt. I really related to the main character, maybe cuz I'm Native American my self, (Can't believe I just used the word 'cuz'). The author did an excellent job of describing the character's emotions and the reactions of people to her problem. All in all, a great book by a great author. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

I could picture using this book in a book group setting in my middle school/high school library. This is a common problem and I think this book would be a wonderful read for girls to read and discuss. There even is a discussion question section at the end of the book. ( )
