Kort biografi
Bobby Cenoura writes fact based fictional stories about contemporary Male and African American adaptations to post modern situations: "Male Angst"(a newly coined genre) and "Quasi Urban" (an offshoot of Urban Fiction/Street Literature) respectively.

Book smart + Street smart = Bobby's brash yet logical explanation of Black people's problems and Male Angst through the eyes of focused yet jaded main characters who dabble in contemporary and underground markets. Targets of his analysis include religion, race, family structure, the Afro-American self image and dating market conundrums.

Bust your gut laughing or rub your chin in reflection.

Bobby was born and raised in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area and has seen sweeping change in the area since the 1980s, which inspires a lions share of his literature. Other places that inspired him are California, Mexico and Peru. Bobby holds a double undergraduate degree in business and social sciences.

This is an interesting books that must have taken a lot of patient research. Cenoura's focus is on names that are often described as "Ghetto." "Ratchet," or "Hood," names. It contains a fairly short essay on how research has shown that having one of these names can reduce a job applicant's prospects of getting an interview. (Incidentally, I have read that for men, more than women, an unusual name can be a disadvantage.) He acknowledges the unfairness and annoyance, but suggests that the parents consider using this style of name as a middle name

Some people refer to these as "African" names, but they are most commonly compound names derived from a root name or partial name, with one of a variety of prefixes added. Cenoura has tables headed by a root name, generally discussing it's origin, along with prefaces that can be used, and sometimes help with pronunciation. This must have taken an enormous amount of work, organization, and patience to compile. There are thousands of possible names listed. The author invites readers to contribute further names.

On a personal note, I notice that one of the root names is Reek, derived from Arabic names like Tarik, I would urge the parent to consider spelling it "Rik" or "Reke," because I think that the name would invite teasing about bad smells. Also, a Game of Thrones fan would remember that the series included a very unfortunate character nicknamed "Reek."

A very different baby name book. Cenoura is considering a series on various ethnic names.
