A great, creepy, old-school dark fantasy tale.

A teen with a strange connection to birds, and an ancient entity. This story reminded me of Willard and Ben in a lot of ways, but it had a more satisfying supernatural crunch to it. And let's face it - we all love seeing bullies get their just rewards.

If you weren't afraid of birds before, you will be now. Ken Goldman does an excellent job of drumming up fear with this book. It's an engaging story, and you'll be looking over your shoulder the entire time you read it. You will not put this one down. The beginning takes a moment to come into focus, but once it does,it hits the ground running, taking you with it!
