An entertaining story in the style of the Flashman Papers about a young student in Ingolstadt becoming involved with the founding of the Illuminati. The story is written as the footnoted version of a book found in a used book shop. Of course, it very much exaggerates the Illuminati and turns then into a group of human-sacrificing devil-worshippers.
The book did, however, make me somewhat nervous in that it pretends to be a true story in the tradition of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and other conspiracy books. It is not long, however, until it becomes obvious to all but the most gullible that this is really fiction.… (mer)
