This is a very ambitious book with sets out to portray Los Angeles as a artful place waiting to be dived into by people moving here from around the country and world. The book is divided into 3 parts: Places to Visit, Interviews, and Essays. The guide constructors assume that readers will follow their inspiration and explore all of the city (minus the Eastside) almost at once. This is probably still good advice (published in 2017) until readers hear about other places after having been exposed to the more famous areas. The guide expects that readers are already somewhat accomplished world travelers and that movement across the city will be not seem too arduous. Los Angeles is not Falling Down the movie, but sometimes you may wonder how much of that film is fiction and how little of it is real. This guide is almost an art book, well thought out with beautiful font type and hard pages. All of the photos are credited as being original to Cereal. This book may be hard to find, but if you happen upon a copy you might appreciate the work that went into making Los Angeles' environs so pleasing to the eye.… (mer)
