even though this was published a while ago, the stories and the point hold true. the numbers (in terms of income, sadly not in terms of percentages) are harder to relate to as so much has changed in the twenty or so years since the data she used here, but the meaning is clearly understandable.

i really like that she ends this book with a pretty large section that is about what to do about it. not just telling us the problem, but trying to help solve it. honestly they aren't steps i would take, but i really appreciate that she's not just laying out the issue, but actively working to make it better as well.

it's also nice that there has been some shift in accountability, i think largely because of #metoo. some of what she talked about in this book has seen some improvement, for sure, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

she mentions this in passing a couple of times, but i wish it was front and center the way her gender discrimination work is - this book speaks mostly to white women. i really wish she had more clearly and forcefully spoke to racism and how women of color are at further disadvantage than the white women she talks about.
