In the first third of this book, the violence is brutal. As a ganster-movie aficionado, it honestly made me a bit sick. The author doesn't pull punches by painting a glamorous picture of a life of crime.

As the book continued, I found that the violence declined and the relationships and romance developed, which made the book easier to read and accept.

Enjoyable and eye-opening piece of work.
