Excellent overview of the copyright battle from a non-corporate bias. Aram explains the history behind copyright and its use as a tool for control and suppression, not as a support mechanism for artists. Coupled with the entertainment (and primarily music) industry's guarded approach to technology, it becomes clear that those with the power only move forward when it gives them greater control.

While I would like to dive into more specific data (e.g. financial) than given, the references should make for a good starting point. Getting too specific probably would have bogged down the discussion created here and is better left to other texts.… (mer)
