Nisha Susan

The few non-fiction articles that I've read by Nisha Susan have been more enjoyable than this collection of short stories. I thought the writing was colloquial to the point of being unimaginative. I liked that she has tried to bring out how differently Indians experience the English language but at times I felt like I was watching a Bollywood movie in English or listening to a podcast about the urban Indian lifestyle. My point being- I kept thinking that something was missing from its textual quality; it seemed that the collection could have been rendered in any other media without taking away from it.… (mer)
