When I selected this book I thought it was a children's picture book, but I was wrong. The cover is adorable, but that is the only illustration in the book. The book is entirely in rhyme which was very easy to read. The author says she was inspired by A Course in Miracles, Ask and It Is Given, and Conversations with God. The narrator of the story thinks there is a mouse in the attic which is very aggravating. As the book progresses, we learn that the attic is the mind and the mouse is offering bits of wisdom. I really had to ponder this book to write this review, in fact I read it a few times. The basic premise is that if we pay attention to the wisdom offered (in the book) and put it into practice, we can improve our life. It is about being happy and not worrying so much about material things or things we can not change. A book you could go back to over and over when you need to clear your mind of all the baggage.

I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

(ARC was provided to read and review.)

I assume not all mice will be able to offer us so much wisdom, but the Attic Mouse certainly has something to say.
First a noisy nuisance for the house owner, as the seasons pass, the little rodent under the roof turns into a sweet saviour for a stressed soul.

The short book offers a rhyming tale with a philosophical reflection on life and why always wanting more easily leads to missing out, that we can't buy happiness. The story encourages to take a different approach to things, which anger or frighten us, as often a closer look can reveal, that our imagination creates unnecessary worries and sorrows.

For me the book would be perfect with a few illustrations (I just love the cover image), but I enjoyed the unique idea of the "mice advice".
We are as free as our mind allows us to be.

Four delicious star-shaped cheeses for the smart Mr. Jingles.
