Zoricah rescues the vampire prince Tardieh who is being held prisoner and tortured. Two hundred years later she needs him to help her rescue women (human, vampire, and draco) who are being kidnapped and used in experiments. He does not trust her feeling that she killed his father but he's not entirely sure about her past and his father. He knows he's attracted to her.

I enjoyed this book. The world building is good and this sets up the series very well. A glossary is provided at the beginning but I wish Ms. Phoenix would have explained the terms as they occurred the first time in the story as well. I had to rely too much on my memory of what some of the terms meant.

I liked the characters. Zoricah and Tardieh are astute and wise. They try to figure out why the other is doing what he/she is doing. They try to outmaneuver each other but their attraction gets in the way. I liked the teams they have around them. It seems each will have a story to tell. They are all strong characters.

The story was done well. I like how the world is built throughout this first story. The rules are set out. There is a language and mythology set up for this world. It will be interesting to see where the story and the world goes from here. The bad guys always seem to be a step ahead of Zoricah and Tardieh and their people. Hopefully they will soon be ahead of the bad guys. ( )

Well hello there, first of all disclaimer I received this book for free in exchange of an honest book review.
This book was REALLY GOOD, though it took me a while to actually enjoy it my heart was pleased by the romance and well my brain was pleased by the world. It was really good and the writting was beautiful, I loved the little twists and turns the book took and even though it wasn't the best book I've ever read, I loved it !
I can't wait to read the rest of the series and hopefully get more of these two characters and their love stories!

This is a short, paranormal romance. Book 1 introduces us to a wide range of supernatural creatures including vampires, shifters, gods, demigods, and humans with exceptional abilities. The storyline is on the formulaic side with little in the way of character depth or world development. For all of that, this was a quick, enjoyable read. ( )

I really like this story and the world the author created. It was inventive and enjoyable. However, there were a lot of editing errors that made it hard to read at some points. The characters were three dimensional and well written and I did find the story really interesting and I would like to see where the author is taking it. Because of this, I will be reading the next book in this series and more from the author in the future. ( )

Tardieh is a main character in all 4 books, but book one is about how he became the king of the vampires and how he rules them now.

Book 1 – Tardieh is soon to be crowned King of the Vampires under his father who is now King. Tardieh is anything but happy about it, he does not want to be king he just wants to live his immortal life the way he wants to, but it all changes when he is taken captive by the enemy and Dragon Lord. Subject to various and gruesome tortures Tardieh is all but given up when suddenly he is rescued by a lovely yet mysterious woman, Zoricah the dragon demigoddess that had been disowned by her own people because of what she was. After rescuing Tardieh she leaves him with just her name. Many years pass a hundred or so, when suddenly Tardieh is taken aback by a woman who gets his attention in bar. As time passes many thing change and change again. Quite a good novel and series. ( )
