Meet two teens whose worlds are about to change forever in this paranormal Young Adult novella, a prequel to Ink by debut author Amanda Sun...

Katie Greene's worst nightmare comes true when her mother dies, and she's devastated to learn that she will have to leave the only home she's ever known. Desperate to find where she belongs, she must decide if she has what it takes to start a new life across the ocean.

For Yuu Tomohiro, every day is a nightmare. He struggles to control his strange ability, and keeps everyone at a distance so they won't get hurt--even his girlfriend, Myu. At night, a shadow haunts his dreams, and a mysterious woman torments him with omens of death and destruction. But these haunting premonitions are only the beginning...

Don't miss the moment when Katie's and Tomohiro's worlds collide in Ink, book one of The Paper Gods series from Harlequin TEEN.

I think this would probably be more enjoyable if I'd have read Ink prior to this. But I wanted a taste and didn't want to dish out money for something I was unsure about. This didn't really grab my interest. I don't feel like it explained anything but then novellas mostly don't - they just give greater insight to the characters, so I probably can't really hold that against the story. The Japanese English translations were annoying. It would work better if there was a link to the glossary with each word so the story doesn't seem so a.) repetitive and b.) jarring. I didn't really like either of the main characters either. I'm interested in Japanese mythology but I don't believe I will be continuing with the rest of the series. ( )

So, I am going to try very hard to write this review without giving any spoilers for Ink, for which my review will be up on June 25th.

I enjoyed this glimpse of things. I read Ink first and then read this, so it was great to fill in some of the background information, to learn what things were like before Tomo and Katie met, because it is important information that I think is going to be important by the time the second book comes around and things begin to reveal themselves. This, of course, is speculatiom.

This little short story is well written and really paints a picture of what the connection is going to be between the two characters.

I enjoyed this quick, fun read and really recommend it. There are a lot of undertones in this that are similar to the books of the Twilight series, so if you enjoyed that, you will enjoy this series. If you didn't enjoy it, but enjoy books that give glimpses of Japanese culture and mythology, you will enjoy this series. There is a small piece in there for everyone, so give it a try. It might just surprise you. ( )

This was a nice filler between Ink and Rain and provides some good back story for Katie. This ebook made me so excited for Rain which is currently on its way to me! Eee! SO excited!! Definitely one of my favourite series! ( )

Pretty good. A bit short though but since it's a novella, pretty okay. I love how authors nowadays do the setting in Japan. Love the idea too. :) ( )
