Terryn is in his very early twenties and living on the LA streets. Kicked out by his father, he moved in with a friend until he was kicked out from there. The highlight of his day is sitting in an alley to watch the handsome cop pass by as he walked his dog.
Brian noticed Terryn and it tore at him as he watched the young man lose hope as time passed.
Through unhappy events, Terryn ends up asking for Brian's help. From there the story quickly goes from them moving in together to them proclaiming that they want to spend their future with each other. The rapid escalation of their relationship was pretty hard to believe even though this is a short story. I think it was in the execution rather than the fact that it happened so rapidly. The other thing I found difficult to believe was that Terryn was in his twenties. He acted like a young boy which kept me thinking that Brian was interested in a kid in high school.
The author usually did a good job with the switching viewpoints, but several times the povs would switch from paragraph to paragraph with the mind jumping. It's one of my pet peeves, mind jumping without clear cut indicators.
The one thing I thought was very cute was that Terryn had a habit of hiccuping when his emotions became intense. I found it adorable, as did the character Brian.
I'm vacillating on how many stars to give this story. I want to give this 2.5 Stars but Goodreads won't allow that. I don't feel it's as low as two stars, so I'll give this 3 Stars although that is pushing it.
A cute, quick read, I think Sincerly, Terryn needed a bit more polishing to have me really enjoy this.
