This is a nice, feel good story. Two young men, Davy and John Willie fall on hard times. Davy is old enough to work but John Willie is a deaf/mute and so is picked on, isolated (even by his parents) and has only Davy to protect him.

When the two find themselves without parents they are left destitute. Davy is determined to keep John Willie safe, at all costs. He has found a hole in a local recluse's property and is determined to hide in an abandoned summerhouse. When Miz Peamarsh discovers them live changes forever for Davy and John Willie.

I don't read a lot of christian fiction because it can get very preachy, but this book keep that religious part low key and concentrated on the characters. I'm very glad a took a chance on this book. ( )
