The Donovans #9
The author hit a home run with this book! I loved it!!!
Sam Marini, related to the Donovan’s through marriage, met Julia “Jules” Carlton at his sister’s wedding. The kiss they shared lingered in both their minds for months. When Sam video’s a crime in progress – unable to reach the scene in time to avert catastrophe – the two reunite and the chemistry between them is as just as strong as it was during that one remembered kiss. With Detective Carlton on the case and Sam the primary witness their romance can’t be public – if they allow it to happen at all. Add into the mix battery becoming death, threats from bullies, evidence to secure, baseball games at home and away, corrupt cops and the Donovan family to catch up with you have a wonderful novel with all the elements I look for in a great story.
What I liked:
* Believable characters and plot – great writing
* Hot alpha hero who is a great baseball player, thoughtful lover and has a heart of gold
* Hot alpha heroine who is intelligent, good at her job and able to verbalize her needs.
* Main characters I liked and would like to have as friends
* Being able to catch up with the Donovan family
* Learning a few new baseball terms – at least one – “hitting for the cycle”
What I didn’t like: Can’t think of anything I did not like ;) except perhaps Julia’s sister and mother – glad they did not make an appearance!
Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review.
