I enjoyed reading it because Molly O'Keefe can write hella good and is very excellent at emotional, character driven development, but I think it would have been more effective (and long-term believable) to have less before and more after. A little of Jack's character development happens in [b: Bad Neighbor|32900938|Bad Neighbor (Bad Boy Romance, #1)|Molly O'Keefe|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1479264192s/32900938.jpg|53514502], so if you haven't read that, I don't think his arc would have the same impact. And the same for Abby. In the first book she comes off as incredibly shallow and selfish, but getting to know her in this book was so satisfying. (

While I liked it, I had more trouble with this one than I expected. It overlaps Bad Neighbor in the beginning, which was interesting, or should have been, but I was thrown by how different this pair is from how they're seen by the first pair in Bad Neighbor. (It reminded me of the rare glimpses I get of how others see me. It's disorienting.) That would have been fine, really interesting even, if I had felt as close to Jack and Abby as I did to Charlotte and Jesse. For me, Charlotte's the most interesting.

I kept having to remind myself where I was supposed to know these people from. But there's one huge plus: Unlike many epilogues, I found this book's to be perfect. Very in character(s). (

This book was even better than the first standalone. It was poignant and emotional. It was superbly written. If you closed your eyes you could imagine the scene around you. You could feel the emotions of the characters. You felt what they felt.

Remarkable and highly recommended. (
