For one thing, while we started out on the first floor (and met characters in the hotel) and so on and so on......I felt the author got lazy and certain floors just had references. It made it disappointing and lacking in a full experience. ( ) Det här är en av LibraryThings förhandsrecensioner. Who doesn't want a fun story about dinosaurs. Take a moment to laugh along with your kids during a delightful bedtime read. If you are like us, you will find them checking it out and rereading it on their own as well. Mr. Snore checks into a hotel ready to hit the hay. But in every room he tries, there is already an occupant! Bouncing from rooms with mice to rooms with pigs, will Mr. Snore ever get any rest? This book was humorous enough, and young children will probably get even more of a chuckle out of it than I did. I felt like the book's title ruined the climatic ending, but maybe kids will enjoy the anticipation that accompanies the dramatic irony. The illustrations fit the book well, but there is zero diversity. Granted there's only two human characters, but they're both white men. Mr. Snore checks in to the Sharemore Hotel in this amusing picture-book from author Wade Bradford and illustrator Kevin Hawkes, hoping to get a good night's sleep. But whether it's the mouse on his pillow on floor one or the giraffes on floor nine, there doesn't seem to be a quiet, peaceful, unobstructed area for him to lay his head down! Finally he makes it to the 13th floor, where he promptly falls asleep, thereby evicting the dinosaur resident... Although I have read and enjoyed many books illustrated by the marvelous Kevin Hawkes, from the middle-grade novels of Eva Ibbotson to the classic Library Lion, by Michelle Knudsen, There's a Dinosaur on the 13th Floor is the first book I have encountered from author Wade Bradford. All in all, I found the narrative here entertaining, as Mr. Snore's frustration builds with one zany mishap after another. That said, I enjoyed the artwork here quite a bit more than the text itself, and think it really helped to accentuate the humor of the tale. Recommended to Kevin Hawkes fans, and to anyone looking for new bedtime picture-books with an oddball sense of humor. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
