When I was studying English for undergrad, I had to purchase an excessive number of copies of literature textbooks and anthologies. This was one of them but I loved it a little more than the others because it had to do with Irish lit. ( ) I. hate. Yeats. His relentless pining for Maude and his constant mention of her in his poems is annoying! It is especially annoying that he doesn't agree with her way of building an Irish nationality, an Irish independence, and yet continues to pine for her love. It's like he's in love with the idea of her and not her. I have no idea why we are reading him in class. He has done nothing for Ireland as far as I can see. The only thing him and Joyce have done for me is turned me off to Ireland. I never want to go there! Adrianne inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
